The bat calls have slowed up now, we are only doing one job and it is complete. We have removed bats from a lakefront home but thats about it. I do not know where they go this time of year, I do not think they leave but they certainly are not "moving" into new roosts this time of year.
I will check on the bats in the clearview area bridge. I wonder if they are still there and if they are numerous.
I built a new bat house website, I hope some new orleanians will consider buying a bat house and keep our friends housed.

Bat removal in River Ridge Louisiana and Other New Orleans cities

I do not know what it is but we have done at least 5 bat removals in the River Ridge area this year already! It wouldn't be so bad except it is a pretty small town. We did 2 on one particular street and I am fairly certain the bats were at both places all along.

The other job we are doing in that area is an attic insulation cleanout. New Orleans area attics can be pretty rough in the summer months - cleaning an attic in this heat is very difficult but we manage. I think you will find that our work is work nobody else wants - but it is picking up!

We are also removing bats from Mandeville in 2 locations. I find this time of year we do alot of bat work where there are no bats present but they were there and we find a few dead ones in the attic. After the mexican free-tailed bat mates the sexes segregate and that leaves a few attics to be invaded and then abandoned!

So you will sometimes find the batcave empty.

I will be adding more as time goes on - not too interesting other than to look back and to keep seeing the same bat locations over and over and of course I am reminded of all those hot attic insualtion cleanouts we are doing and have done - whew!

Bats in Vents

Bats in the attic again in Destrehan, but now I have had calls from Kenner and River Ridge!

It seems to me the bats are a month late this year but oh well, I am not swamped with work but I am at least paying the bills.

The bats in River Ridge were filmed last night leaving out of a chimney! The cap is not seated correctly and it has allowed them access. I will post this video and some pics of what we did to remove them, I hope this helps someone - but be warned, working on a 32 ft ladder can be dangerous! Work smart and if in doubt hire a proffessional!

Looks like the bats in Destrehan, LA are going crazy! I have been removing bats from several houses, attics, and especially removing bats from octagon vents in Ormond subdivision. I think the bats are loving those this year! This type of job is pretty common place. The first thing we do is go around and look at the rest of the house, as there are usually several places that the bats could go if they are not properly removed in the first place. The rest of the house needs to be sealed BEFORE the one way doors are installed.

I have had a couple of other calls this time of year too! I have had calls for dead dogs, snake problems, opossum problems, and squirrels!

All in a days work though!

well that was a decent post of mine but to update it for October 15th, I have only done one bat job recently. The lady had a bat flying around the house and she did in fact have bats in the eaves of the house. I set up a one way door and after 5 days they were gone. I did find a bat dead that some ants had taken a liking to but other than that they were all gone!

In New Orleans, bat removal is strictly done by exclusion only. Its the law. Luckily the bats were only there for a short time and intermittently as well so there wasn't much guano to remove.

I taped off her fireplace and when asked if she wanted me to remove the plastic, she replied "I aint never taking that down!" Her fear was so great of the invading bats!

Welcome to September Louisiana! Opossums, Armadillos, and Raccoons will soon be roaming around seeking out winter shelter in the New Orleans area. This is a good time to go around the outside of your house and see what sort of cracks and crevices exist. Animals as small as bats will also be flying around the neighborhood in search of not only moths and mosquitos but also shelter!

Bat removal in New Orelans and Baton rouge is really picking up so make sure your house is secure. Start by going around to each of the verticle walls and check for cracks and crevices, especially if you found a bat in the house flying around. If you do find a bat flying around in the house try to capture it with a coffee can and release it outside, if you are afraid of it you can call a local company to solve the problem and do an inspection. Bats are back!

New Orleans bats are back in full effect! We have been getting rid of bats in Kenner, Metairie, and New Orleans this past week, with bats flying around more than ever. Yesterday morning I was up early and drinking coffee, what I saw was bats flying over the house! Bats flying over MY house!

Bats generally are detected because of the noises they make in the walls and the odors that are usually present. If you do NOT smell anythign strange but hear noises coming from out of the chimney don't be surprised if it is Chimney swifts! New Orleans Bat removal and other stuff 2009

Looks like this year is kinda slow for the bat season! A few of the local places that usually have bats (apartment complex) got them again. http://www.parkerwildlifecontrol.com took care of them as usual too! Bats always seem to start arriving in new orleans about this time every year. Bats in an attic, and bats in the wall are common.
We provided a bid to remove bats from a local furniture company and I am not sure how thats going, as they probably think we are too expensive.
Thats ok by me, I would rather get paid for what teh job is worth than to get it and regret it later on. If not done properly they will have bats again in about a month and then again next year...

I removed an armadillo from mandeville last week and the dang thing got loose in my truck! Ha, I had to grab him by the tail and yank him out of some bird netting that was in a bucket. I also set some traps for squirrels and some raccoons at another job.

I probably shouldnt say this but I doubt anyone will read this and know who I am talking about. I set some raccoon traps up at this ladys house, and I must say she is the most beautiful girl I have seen in a long long time. It was really a treat to just stand there and talk to her. Sometimes life just tosses you a cookie. I love my wife and thats the only reason I was not trying to get a date - although memories of my wife were fading fast they were enough to keep me honest!
I will secretly admire her beauty, and always faithfully love my wife.

I must also say that my new site visit and evaluation forms are working out awesome!
They have reminded me to check everything during my inspection!

Mississippi Bats

Wow, we have a guy in Bay St Louis that has a bat problem that is like a comedy of errors, the bad part is hes got a problem and hes looking to me to fix it. This is a bad one, the smell wont go away. We have pulled all of the sheetrock, insulation, and even changed out the roof decking in the dormer. The rafters still stink and I am hoping by using Kilz we will eliminate the odor. I will update this when I know more of the situation.

First bat call comes from a woman who says she noticed bats in her attic. I explained the usual methods - she needs a price - again I explain I need to look at the job to price it, again she just needs a ballpark figure, we go back and forth. Bottom line is she needs to speak to her "partner" now. I cannot stand when people want an answer from me and yet have no problem telling me, "we'll get back to you" NO gimme an answer...ah whatever, customer's always right eh?
